I bought this item for my daughter, it came within a few days. It's made out of top quality material, and looks very good. My daughter really loves it, she plays with it day and night (I can't get her to go to sleep at nights).
If you have the Thomas series wooden railway series, then by all means, be sure you get Duck. He's just one of the older trains, and is almost in each and every video. He doesn't usually have a large role, but he's a kind and good friend to all the engines. This guy gets taken to bed in our house and also, everywhere we go. It's pretty funny listening to all the role playing going on in the carseat with this guy and hey, he can even dance to the Wiggles! These trains definitely develop imagination and fine motor skills, but they also become friends. These wooden guys are VERY durable too. They don't chip like you'd think they would when dropped onto the floor. We plan on keeping our wooden train series and interconnecting them with a "real" train set when our little one gets older. Also, don't forget to check out the HO series of Thomas here on amazon. I didn't know they existed and what a neat way to introduce your little one to the fascinating world of trains. Something they can definitely grow up with and use for quite some time. Highly recommend Duck!
We got this for our ten month old who loves musical instruments. She really got excited by the colors and the sounds. While she can't really use the mallet (she doesn't have enough control to play with it, but she does love chewing on it, which we try to discourage), she has banged on it with her fists and liked the effect. In other instances, we play it with her. The instrument seems quite durable, as she has banged it repeatedly against hard surfaces and there are no dents or cracks. We especially like that it has the full scale.
This is the first time I saw a Barbie doll with her husband much muscle definition - and half naked too! This is definitely a must-by for any Twilight fan, but there are even more reasons to buy one right now - before the second wave of dolls James is produced by Mattel.
As many of you can read a blog or other Twilight news, Mattel had done is wrong with this first generation of dolls James version. The tattoo on his right hand printed upside down, soYou see a picture of two wolves would have on their heads. Mattel was notified and sent a news release stating that they would correct this error. So, as you might surmise, Jacob any dolls produced now would be a tattoo printed on the right side-up. This means, first edition dolls James and mistakes on his taxes without a product with more value than the dolls produced in the future. I'm so glad I got mine, but now keep it in storage boxits value. Maybe I should buy another ....
I picked these up from Target. Let me tell you their prices, because some online ones (including, sadly Amazon, atm) are really, really off:
-Habitat: , included THREE hex arenas, THREE straight pieces, TWO curved ones, and, most importantly TWO nano bugs! Don't pay more than for it, I've seen it on Amazon for nearly twice that.
-Starter set: , included ONE hex arena, TWO curved pieces, ONE nano bug.
-Single nano bug: .
I'd *highly* recommend the habitat set, it's the BEST value by far, assuming you don't get a horrible online price.
The starter set is not a bad deal, but it's not as much fun as the habitat.
The individual nano bugs are kind of expensive, and no way to start. Without SOME sort of habitat pieces, you're just chasing this thing around the room. But that may be fun too!
So.... what are these things?
I thought they were little robots. Turns out this is generally what HEXBUGs are, but they've been scaling them down to simpler and simpler things.
These things are completely dumb, no sensors at all. But the design is brilliant.
They have little curved rubber legs that don't move. They have an on switch. When you turn then on, they vibrate. That's it.
But that's all that's needed. They SHOOT across a flat surface, and when they hit a wall, they shoot off at at angle. They even right themselves if they are on their side or back. It's an elegant design. The result is something that looks and behaves amazingly similar to a cockroach, but simply consists of a vibrator (motor with weight), battery, and rubber legs. That's it!
The shapes of the case allows it to both bounce off of walls and right to themselves. They are unstoppable.
I don't know how long the battery lasts, but you can replace it.
My 2 year old LOVES them. He can easily turn them on or off, and he can't (short of immersing one in water) hurt them. He's given each of them names and attaches a lot of personality to them, he acts like they're pets. They are a good size for him, no moving parts to break. It's actually a brilliant little toy.
I kind of want to turn the habitat into a gambling game... roll a couple of them into a habitat (like dice) and first one to exit the open door wins. They are surprisingly entertaining.
